How To: Prevent Eyeliner Smudging

"Waterproof" almost ALWAYS means "Water Resistant"!

We have all experienced this! You put your liner on and, BAM! A couple hours later it's running down your face making you look a mess. Here are 4 tips to help you combat this!

1. Eye Primer
So simple! When I prime my lids or my client's lids I always make sure to get right under the bottom lashes. Using an eye primer helps to absorb your excess oils. The trick is, use very, very, little of this product. Combo this tip with number 4! (You can even use this on your eyebrows if you experience the same problem)
Urban Decay Primer Potion. Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Palladio Eye Shadow Primer. NARS Smudge Proof  Eye Shadow Base.

2. Gel Eyeliner
Bear with me a second here. Gel eyeliner comes in a pot. Almost all the gel liners I have used are perfect for the waterline. They ARE waterproof. They dry down like a liquid liner does and they stay put. How do you get it on your waterline? A cheap liner pencil. Dip into the pot and line your waterline!
L'Oreal Lacquer Liner. Maybelline Eye Studio. MAC Fluidline. Physician's Formula Gel Liner.

3. Eye Shadow
This one is hit or miss, and not recommended for contact lens wearers. Use a powder eye shadow that matches your liner and pat it into your eyeliner with a small smudger brush. Usually this will work better with a stiffer pencil liner (like something that is a wooden pencil).

4. Translucent Powder
My favorite thing to do, and what I have been doing for a long time is using a translucent or clear setting powder to prevent this from happening! This is great to absorb excess oils from your skin, foundation, concealer or the liner itself. You can use a small fluffy brush, a flat stiff brush or a tiny kabuki and PUSH not swipe into the skin. Be careful! Some setting powders can cause flash back in pictures!
Palladio Rice Powder. Bare Minerals Well Rested. MAC Pressed Blot Powder. Make Up For Ever HD Setting Powder.

I think that these are the most solid tips that I have found to be useful! And most likely a combination of these tips will help you out.

Thank you for reading, and have a good one!!
